Woke up bright and early and headed down to Norman for the annual Brookhaven 5k (fastest 5k in OK). Met up with J-Hat and we jogged the course changed shoes and did some strides before lining up. Man all the familiar faces and folks I haven't seen in some time were out today.

We took off and I didn't charge out right away because it was just down right hot from the get go. I managed 5:07 for the first 2 miles but slowed down on the back side with a slight up hill. Oddly enough I passed more people on the uphill than i did anywhere.  I pretty much tucked in behind Eric and Nate for the entire race. Eric got a good gap on me to close. I know he wanted the sub 16 as much if not more than I did but today just wasn't the day.

This was the first time I won the Master division out and was happy for that. I ended up getting a hundered bucks and an nice glass clock with the race and date scribed on the face.

Won a hat and arm warmers too. There were some real blazers out today.

Our Tuesday speed group took a pic and a lot of forks had some really great race times for the day we had. Great race with great friends!!!

Guess I've gotta get on the ole marathon hat for the next few weeks.

Thanks Riley. Man you are tearing up the miles. Can't wait to see how you do out in Chicago.

That sounds like a competitive race if you ran 16:23 and came in 14th.

Any other 5ks planned this fall when you are in marathon mode? Some cooler weather you might be able to hold sub-16 pace.

A nice chunk of change ain't bad either!

Jason D I really don't have anything planned but with all the 5ks around here I may just jump in one when it cools off.

Brookhaven offers nice money prizes and pretty deep too. They offer an extra bonus of 1500 bucks if you break the state record (13:51)-Aaron Rono
