Made my way up to Edmond bright and early to do the turkey trot. Most races around here really gouge prices for races which I am not a huge fan of. I figured 20 bucks race day morning was very acceptable.

I basically wanted to get out before feasting and get a nice effort in. I told myself that if I was under 17 I would be good with it.

We took off and I felt fairly good for having run a marathon 4 days before. I caught myself trying to slow several times and did small pickups.

Arya took off from the gun and never looked back. I ran with Charlie to the turn around and drafted off a tall high school maybe college kid going into the wind and up the only hill. Riden took off up the hill and gapped us pretty good. I decided the kid I was drafting on was slowing down so I went around him and tried to catch up with Riden and Tanner.  The last mile or so was solo effort and the 1 mile fun run was a fiasco merging with the 5kers.

I was pleased with my time and how well I felt.

I had several friends PR and several really close to PRing. This race is probably the biggest 5k around and definitely draws the better completion.

I did a long 7 mile cool down with Charlie and Arya after. Roger, Jordan, and Blake for a bit of it.

Forgot to mention I ran the race in a coonskin cap. YEEYEE

Picture doesn't really do justice to that coon-tail flopping as you cranked out a fast 5K! Great show of strength on your part running this on post-marathon legs.
